Curiosity makes Communication Arts shortlist

Global Creative Publication recognizes social campaign for Duke Bush and BUSH’s Beans.

Cincinnati, OH — August 7, 2020 – Curiosity’s Duke Bush social media campaign, created on behalf of BUSH’S Beans, continues to earn global recognition. First an international Webby Award winner, the wildly successful campaign was recently shortlisted for the 2020 Communication Arts Advertising Awards in the Digital Advertising category.

For more than 56 years, Communication Arts has been the world’s leading trade publication for creative designers, photographers, artists and illustrators. The publication hosts quarterly competitions in a number of visual arts categories, recognizing some of the best design work in the world.  Curiosity was one of 230 honorees shortlisted, out of 1,366 total entrants, for it’s work with BUSH'S Beans celebrity spokes-dog, Duke Bush. Other recognizable brand names on the Digital Advertising shortlist include Jeep, Porsche, Fanta and Nike.

Communication Arts is an extremely influential trade publication and the go-to source for creatives in the industry. The publication has been a beacon for highlighting the best creative work in advertising for decades,” said Lee Taylor, Curiosity Creative Director. “This is a tremendous honor. We are all so passionate about the work we did to help Duke Bush become a social media superstar; it’s exciting to see him earn a shoutout from some of the best in our industry.”

Curiosity originally launched Duke Bush’s Instagram account in 2019, after the team reimagined the BUSH’S Beans historic mascot during a Curious Question (CQ) Session with company leaders. Duke visited PetCon and shared the red carpet with some of the world’s most influential pets, gaining 4,500 followers in one weekend. Soon, the @itsdukebush Instagram feed was filled with his day-to-day adventures including yoga, napping and swimming, as well as cultural shoutouts to Taylor Swift and “Stranger Things.” The account garnered more than 17,000 followers in less than six months and earned 150 million+ impressions in 2019.  The campaign was named a 2020 International Webby Award winner for Best Social Media, an honor recognized by The New York Times as “best of the internet.”
