The challenging practice of social distancing due to COVID-19 has affected people and businesses in the community in various ways. And as many local businesses are facing layoffs and restructuring as a result of lost revenue due to closure orders from Gov. Mike DeWine and decreased traffic, Cincinnati ad agency Curiosity is taking it upon themselves to put small, local businesses at the forefront of their newest campaign.
The goal of Curiosity's “#SaveCincySmall” is to help combat the effects that COVID-19 is having on local eateries and independent businesses. With most of the community staying home, Curiosity is reaching out via social media to help patrons support the local economy. Each day of the five-day campaign, Curiosity will feature a local business on their social media, as well as donate to them.
On Monday, March 23, Curiosity featured Pleasantry, a cozy Over-the-Rhine restaurant that is making meals for health care workers on the front lines. Pleasantry has served over 1,400 meals to those at area hospitals who are working day and night to combat the virus in the community and help those suffering from COVID-19. Curiosity helped purchase some of those meals.
The latest local business to receive a shout-out from Curiosity is Urbana Cafe, a popular Queen City coffee destination with locations in Pendleton, East Walnut Hills and Findlay Market. In addition to encouraging people to donate, the agency purchased coffee beans from Urbana for their entire office.
The #SaveCincySmall campaign will feature three more businesses in the coming days.
